Let's Play Catch Up Shall We?

Hey KRACKLEHEADS!

Wow, a lot of time has passed since we updated the blog before we went to NYC. Hmmmm...let's see. We went back to New York to play a few shows and to meet with some Marvel folks about some cool stuff coming down the pipe in KK land and can't wait till we can share what we're talking about! Kyle came down with Strep Throat and a 103 degree temp 4 days before the trip. We almost scrapped the whole thing but ended up braving it and went anyways. Kyle sang the first show at Jim Hanley's Comic Universe and the next morning after singing on already strained and destroyed swollen vox cords due to the Strep had to lip sync the next night...cause he could barely talk. That was a first, and hopefully last time for that but the folks at COMIC BOOK JONES made us feel like conquering heroes with a fully catered night and great energy that makes us spread the word about the store anytime we talk with folks in the comic world.

After the NYC trip weekend, we had a couple of days off to rest and get Kyle's voice back before heading off to the CALGARY EXPO for a few days with our neighbors to the north and an excellent convention weekend. After the expo we headed up on a bus to Banff for a few days with fellow artists that included Ron Marz, Mark Brooks and Mike Choi (X-Men) and Gears of War 2 writer Josh Ortega. We had a blast and now we're home resting after our crazy month of conventions and trips!

Next up is a few shows in the Seattle area after many requests at the Emerald City Comic Con for some local shows ASAP! We'll be playing both shows full-band with the first being at the University Street Fair in Seattle on Sunday May 17th for an outdoor slot at 10:30am. There's no ticket fee, so come one come all and let's show them how geeks rock out! A few nights later we'll be at TOST in Seattle's Fremont area on the 19th for a 10:00pm show that marks the first club gig for KK.

The shows are gonna be a total blast and we hope to see you all there!

Emerald City Recap! Show Announcements! New Videos....and the winner of the "Name Yourselves" contest!

Whoa! So much to talk about! First off, THANK YOU Seattle fans for making ECCC the best con for KK and the most fun we've had in a while! Having had great out of town con trips promoting the new debut album we had hoped that the Seattle fans would come out and say hello and you did...so thanks so much. :)

We've posted a new video (and will post more) from the show as it made the debut of the KK live band. KK is Kyle and Jim, but it takes more than the two of us to make the full KK sound and that's where Kyle's solo bandmates stepped up and have become the touring band. Nelson Estes pounded the drums during "One Of The Guys" and Kent Harris kept the low-end locked down in "Villain Song" to a warm and excited crowd on Sunday afternoon! It was great to see everyone come out and support or first full local show, and speaking of shows we just posted many new appearances for KK in your area!


On April 17th we return to NYC to perform at JIM HANDLEY'S COMIC UNIVERSE and on Saturday the 18th we rock at COMIC BOOK JONES on Staten Island. We're really excited to make the flight back to the east coast to play for our fans and we hope to see you at the shows!

As for local shows, we'll be playing at Seattle's UNIVERSITY STREET FAIR on May 17th. Playing outside will never have been so geeky, and a few nights later at TOST in the Fremont area on the 19th! Both full band, both Superhero Rock Good Times!

As for the "Name Yourselves!" contest, we know we've been a week overdue for the announcement (ECCC kicked our butts) but no more excuses cause we have a winner!

Emerald City Comic Con And Concert!

(Mic check one two one two...check one...two. We on? Ok...)

Hey! First off, the deadline has come and gone for the "Name Yourselves!" contest that was running up until last week. Who's the winner? Well, given that we love being annoying we can't tell you until next week! We know, we know...but the lucky winner gets a signed CD and poster of the band so like we said, we'll announce next week. We cool? Great!

On to this weekend! And what is that you ask? Well...EMERALD CITY COMIC CON!

That's right, this week we'll be tearing open the albums and prepping the listening stations for our first convention appearance on our home turf. The time is right, the moon is aligned, and KK will be marking the show with it's first "Full Band" appearance on Sunday at the con in panel room #400 at the ripe time of 12:30pm! The amps will roar, the bass will thud and it will be first time anyone will have their ears ringing due to a song about "Genoshan Girls". A moment of silence for the 16 million dead please....

We're psyched beyond belief to meet our hometown fans and ECCC will also mark the first time we are offering KK shirts! Want to show your love of KK outside of shoving earphones on stranger's heads on the sidewalk? Now you can with the brand new design based off of JIM MAHFOOD's "KK signal light" on the back of our album. They're looking good and more importantly...you're going to be looking good. To take it further, it's "look good than feel good". Thanks Hans and Franz.

WonderCon Wrap-Up!

First of all, let us say that it is commonly known throughout the land that the only way you can get away with a picture like the one below is if you are in a "comic-book rock band". It's as if if you don't have a picture like that...then something is wrong with you. ;)



We had a freaking blast at WonderCon! Taking what we learned worked (and didn't work) at NYCC, we had a better idea heading into the weekend and what it would take to learn the masses about "The World's First Comic Book Rock Band".

Specifically, we had 2 listening stations this time instead of one and answered many times questions about the hygienic state of our headphones. Kyle's mom was a house cleaner so you all do the math on that one. Yes they're clean! NO, you won't get earwhigs!


All the podcasts and blogs highlighting KK that have been released since NYCC also really helped a lot as many folks came up and knew who we were without our introduction. ROCK! Having hundreds of folks listening to your album right in front of you everyday gives you a little better idea of what folks like...and even after that there is really no rule! You think you know, but then an 85 year old woman decides to buy 3 albums based off of listening to "Zombie Apocalypse"....WHA?!?
In NYC, the popular songs were "One Of The Guys" and "Marvelous Girls". In San Francisco, "Up, Up, Down, Down" proved to be the winner and as usual the ladies love "Naked Wii". It will never cease being creepy asking a cute girl if they want to hear a song about "playing Wii naked". We learned that we need to enunciate a little better though as more than a few times the words were relayed to us as sounding "play weed naked". Oh man...

When we weren't living at the con we were meeting fun people and once again hanging with TOP COW man Filip Sablik and a new friend in the form of "THE DARKNESS" artist Michael Broussard. We all went out to a restaurant one night called "The Stinking Rose" which left us smelling like roses...if roses were garlic.

Later that night we met up for a Tiki Bar tour with the iFanboy guys and hung out with THE BOYS artist Darick Robertson, a great guy.

Most of the other nights were spent with good friends Kandrix and Laurie B. As mentioned in earlier posts, Laurie B. is an amazing artist that specializes in "pin-up" versions of your favorite heroes. Be careful when approaching her table as you might get a little flustered and potentially fall in love with her uber-sexy Zantanna and "Slave-Leia" depictions.

On the final night, we spent the evening palling around with the DC comics crew and made the mandatory stop at IN-AND-OUT burger as well as stopping in Mel's Diner for pie...for the 4TH NIGHT IN A ROW. Yeah, we love our late night sweets. Time to start working out again.


On the final day we saw that having friends in unique positions rules as we received backstage tours of both ILM and PIXAR. So cool to be in the hub of such adventurous creativity and to spend a day actually taking a look at San Francisco outside of our route to the con everyday. That's work though, right?


Our next stop will be EMERALD CITY COMIC CON, and we can't wait to share the cool news with what we have planned for that!
